Organic Argan Oil
Extraction Method: cold pressing of argan kernels
Benefits of argan oil – General benefits and origin
The argan tree is endemic to Morocco and its cultivation extends along a vast plain of more than 2,560,000 hectares (25,660 km2) located between mountains. The argan forest, known as L’Arganeraie, was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1998 for its ecological value and its importance to the local economy of the area.
Argan oil, known as “liquid gold,” is obtained by cold pressing the kernels of the argan tree fruit. It is slightly viscous and absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy feeling on the skin.
It has a high content of fatty acids, vitamins (A and E) and antioxidants which makes argan oil a perfect anti-aging product.
Argan oil has anti-inflammatory properties and relieves joint pain.
Because of its high content of vitamin E argan oil is a very stable oil with a long shelf life.
Benefits of argan oil for the skin
Argan oil is a nourishing oil suitable for all skin types, including oily skin.
Due to its high content of fatty acids and antioxidants (vitamin E), argan oil helps fight free radicals, stimulates the production and synthesis of collagen and elastin, and delays the appearance of skin aging symptoms such as wrinkles and fine lines while attenuating its effects. It also contains squalene, which is an emollient agent that deeply hydrates the skin and helps keep it soft.
Due to its low comedogenic rating (0/5) argan oil hydrates the skin but does not lubricate it, thereby preventing pore clogging, and thus the possibility of causing acne breakouts (just apply a few drops of oil on the face and massage next).
Argan oil helps reduce stretch marks and scars and is ideal for treating rough skin on feet and hands. It is often used for the treatment of brittle nails, as it strengthens them.
Argan oil is perfect for lip care. The simple application of one or two drops helps heal chapped lips and keep them hydrated and soft.
Applied together with a makeup foundation, argan oil provides luminosity and uniformity to the skin. This technique, known as “gold-flecked oil face”, consists in applying a makeup base at different points of the face and before blending it, add a few drops of argan oil on a damp makeup sponge and apply them with soft touches on the face.
Argan oil is a good cleansing oil for face (makeup remover). Its content of palmitic acid and stearic acid is useful for skin cleansing since both saturated fats act as surfactants (detergents) dissolving fat, impurities, cosmetic products or makeup and dead skin.
Benefits of argan oil for hair
Argan oil can be applied directly to the hair, along with the usual shampoo or conditioner. Just apply a few drops on the palm of the hand and then add your shampoo or conditioner.
Because of its high content of nutrients, argan oil can be used as a natural conditioner leaving hair soft and shiny. In frizzy and unruly hair it helps control frizz.
If used before shampooing on wet hair, apply from the roots to the ends and leave on for 20-30 minutes before rinsing and washing (for dry hair), or from half the hair to the ends and leave on for 15 minutes (for oily hair).
If used after washing, 2 or 3 drops should be applied before drying and combing from half the hair to the ends.
When used after drying, it facilitates styling and even helps reduce split ends. In this case, just apply 2 or 3 drops of argan oil on your hand and distribute it through the hair. Thus your hair will be easily styled and will become healthier both inside and out.
It can also be applied on dyed hair since it helps maintain color for a longer time.
Continuous use is not recommended as it can leave the hair looking oily. It is preferable to apply it every two weeks or after activities that can damage the hair (swimming in pools with chlorinated water, for example).
Beard care: Argan oil is an excellent beard care oil. This is the right way to apply it as a beard oil:
- Apply after shower
- Dry the beard with a towel and apply argan oil directly on the beard
- For 3-4 day beards apply 2-3 drops and spread them with your hands
- For full beards use more and spread it evenly with a beard comb
- Massage argan oil into the skin and beard
- Leave on for 2-3 minutes and then style or comb
- To avoid a greasy and careless appearance do not leave oil residue on the beard
Argan oil comedogenic rating*
