Benefits of organic patchouli essential oil – General benefits and origin

Patchouli is a bushy herb native to India, Malaysia and Indonesia that can grow up to 60-90 centimeters. It has oval leaves, square stems and white and violet flowers.

Patchouli essential oil, obtained by steam distilling its leaves, has an intense, sweet and earthy scent. Its fragrance has been used for centuries in the manufacture of perfumes and is currently present in many men’s perfumes.

The color of patchouli essential oil is affected by the material of the machine with which it is distilled. If it is made of stainless steel it will have a light color and if it is made of iron it will have a darker color. However, its color becomes darker with time.

Patchouli essential oil has antiseptic and antipyretic properties (reduces fever). Relieves pain and inflammation and tones the entire body by stimulating metabolic functions and boosting the immune system. It is also used as a natural deodorant (add two or three drops in a cotton ball and rub in the armpits).
